Easter "Peeps On A Perch" Recipe

Peeps On A Perch

This fun and easy Easter recipce combines 4 great Easter flavors (chocolate, marshmallow, caramel,and fig) to give your taste buds a treat they won't soon forget! Your eyes will be pretty happy too-- Peeps on A Perch are adorable! Note: If you don't like fig newtons, try substituting your favorite cookie, graham crackers, or a rice krispie treat!

Method:

1. Set out your fig newtons on a heavy weight dipping sheet lined tray.

Slice each donut like a pie, into 8 even pieces.
2. Melt your Chocoley caramel.
3. Dip each Peep straight down into the caramel, so that at least the bottom of the Peep is coated (if you want more caramel, dip the Peep as much as half way into caramel). The caramel will work as glue to attach your Peep to it's perch!


4. Place one caramel Peep on each fig newton.

5. Place the tray of Peeps in the refrigerator (so that the caramel will harden) while you prepare your chocolate.


6. Melt your Bada Bing Bada Boom Dipping & Enrobing Chocolate according to instructions that came with it.

Ideally, use a double boiler (or a double boiler insert). Do not let the water touch the bottom of the double boiler. Only let the water simmer. Do not allow it to boil or you may burn the chocolate.

If you must use a microwave, melt on medium heat for short periods being very careful not to overheat the chocolate.

7. Gently pinch each Peep by the head and use that as a handle to dip your Peep, caramel, and fig newton straight into the chocolate, so that your peep is covered half-way with chocolate.

8. Allow excess chocolate to drip off and place covered peep on heavy weight dipping sheet. OPTIONAL: Sprinkle with your favorite decorative topping.
9. Place the tray of dipped Peeps in the refrigerator to harden (about 10-15 minutes).
  Store in an airtight container at room temperature in low humidity.
